Baruntse Expedition – Mt. Baruntse Expedition in Nepal

Mt. Baruntse Peak is one of the most attractive climbing peaks with 7,000m snow peaks in the Himalayas of Nepal. Mt. Baruntse is lies in the heart of the Khumbu Himalaya region to the west of Makalu. This attractive (Mt. Baruntse) ridge is surrounded by some of the most famous peaks in the world, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam and the list continues. Mt. Baruntse is the most accessible 7000-meter peak in the Khumbu region having a normal route of ascent, which can be guided.

Baruntse ExpeditionThe ascent route of Mt. Baruntse expedition is through the southern ridge overhanging the famous West pass; the traditional route opened by Hillary and Shipton in 1952. Mt. Baruntse expedition trip start from Lukla and takes you across the Mera Peak trek up to Mera – La and then Hongu valley, one of the most lush regions in Nepal, passing northward through a beautiful alpine environment. The walk passes through delightful Sherpa country and provides for excellent acclimatization. The Baruntse base camp is situated at an altitude of around 5250m. and sits near the pristine lakes below Amphu Labtsa pass. The route of Baruntse expedition follows a long ridge leading to the summit of Baruntse. An ascent on Baruntse is an adventure for climbers wishing to meet a true Nepalese 7000 meter.

Normally, Green Valley Nepal Treks staffs make two camps above the Baruntse base camp in climbing Baruntse. The camp (I) is set up just below East Col. at an altitude of 5,700m with camp (II) being on the South – East Ridge at a height of 6,420m.

Day 02: Preparation for expedition. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and trek to Chutanga. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 04: Trek from Chutanga to Nau Lekha. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 05: Trek from Nau Lekha to Kothey. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 06: Trek from Kothey to Thangnak. Stay overnight at camp.

Day 07: Trek from Thangnak to Khare. Stay overnight at camp.
