Gokyo Lake & Everest Base Camp Trekking:

Everest trek in reasonably famous, not only for its closeness to the world's highest mountain (8848m) but also for its friendly Sherpa people, charming villages great variety of cultures and traditions, colourful festivals and monasteries. The flora and fauna are other ornaments of the Sagarmatha National Park. The story of the yeti is still a mystery to the world from the Kahumbu region.

This trek is a agreement of Gokyo Lake and Everest Base Camp. A visit to Gokyo Ri (5488m) and KalaPattar (5550m) offers wonderful view of Cho Oyu, Everest Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam. Cross over the Cho La (5420M) pass and visit the Everest Base Camp. This trek offers a walk through the most remarkable setting and glorious views of the Mountain range in the Khumbu region.


Itinerary:
Day 01. I will welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transport you to your Kathmandu hotel. After having formal introduction, you are being served with welcome drink at the hotel. They will give you helpful tips for your time in Kathmandu. O/N Guest at House B.B.
Day 02 Kathmandu Sight-seeing: 3-4 hours. After breakfast, you are being set for joining a guided tour of the wonderful sightseeing of the Kathmandu Valley. You can visit Durbar Square, Swayambhunath 'Monkey' Temple, the famous Hindu temple - Pashupatinath and the largest Stupa in Nepal - Boudhanath. O/N Guest at House B.B.
Day 03 Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding:35 minutes flight and 3-4 hours hike. Early morning Tribhuvan Airport by a Twin Otter flight to Lukla together with me. After final arrangements, the trekking starts passing Chaurikharka village, and makes a descent towards the Dudhkosi Ghat (2,530 meters). The trail follows the precise edge of the Dudhkosi River until reach at Phakding. This first day is short for acclimatization reasons. O/N Guest at House B.L.D.
Day 04 Phakding to Namche Bazzar: 5-6 hours. Follow the Bhote Koshi through forest and territory land, along a valley scattered with small Sherpa settlements. Cross the Bhote Koshi and ascend steeply along switch-backing trail to large Sherpa village, views of Everest (8,848m) and Lhoste (8,511m) come into sight. This prosperous town is the largest in Khumbu. A traditional trading center, the Bazaar is held every Saturday. The goods on display are available. Thamserku (6,648m) and Kwangde RI (6,224m) become visible to the east and west, and the sacred mountain Khumbila (5,707m) dominates the skyline to the north behind the village.O'N stay at Namche Bazzar (3440 m) . Day 05 Namche Bazzar to Khumjung acclimatization at Namche Bazaar. A enjoyable day can be spent exploring the village, talking to the Sherpas and marveling at the unbelievable scenery. After Lunch only a few hours walk away is the charming village of Khumjung (3850m), a place less visited. After having lunch visit viewpoint for a panoramic view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Kangtega, Thamserku, Taweche, Kongma Tse. Have lunch on top of this panoramic view. After lunch visit the Khumjung Monastery with the Yeti scalp and walk back through the village to your lodge. Overnight and full board. Sunsets over Himalaya can be unforgettable. Day 06 KHUMJUNG - PHORTSE THANGHKA After breakfast, we descend to the west of the village down the broad valley leading to the Dudh Kosi River. The Gokyo route is turn north, climbing above the more frequented route to Tengboche and Everest Base Camp. Here's choice of routes in the beginning: the yak trails which climbs gently or the steep staircase-like trail made of rocks embedded in a narrow cleft in a large bounder, the two trails soon join and continue towards a large Chorten on the top of the ridge at 3973 metres. This ridge descends from Khumbila 5716m), abode the patron god of the Khumbu. From the ridge, the trails descends in a series of steep switchbacks down a sandy slope to the Dudh Koshi and we'll be spend Overnight in Phortse Thanghka. O/N Guest at House B.L.D.
Day 07 PHORTSE THANGHKA - DOLE Breakfast approx 7:00 am in the morning. After breakfast we start our journey to Dole. The trails climbs steeply out of the valley through rhododendron forests which give way to fragrant stands of juniper and large conifers as the elevation increases. This trek is especially beautiful in spring when the rhododendron are blooming. The trails passes many kharkas, summer settlements used when sherpas bring herds of yaks to graze in these high pastures. The route passes through the settlement s of Tongba (3950m) to Dole where there're few Hotels. The views of Khumbila and Twachee (6542m) are tremendous throughout the day, and it is possible to climb a ridge behind Dole for an even broader view up and down the valley. in Dole. Day 08 DOLE - MACHHERMO From Dole the trail climbs to Lambara at 4220m and Luza at 4360m. The tails is steep in most places as it climbs through scrub junipers. There're kharkas whenever there is a flat spot and the slightest hint of water. People from Khumjung own all the kharkas on this side of valley. The trails continue to climb along the side of the valley, high above the river, crossing sandy spurs to Machhermo at 4410 meters. It was in Machhermo in 1974 that YETI killed three yaks and attached a Sherpa woman. This is the most credit yeti incident ever reported, so be watchful as you visit this reason. Day 09 MACHHERMO - GOKYO The trail climbs a ridge for an excellent view both down the valley to Kantega and up towards Cho Oyu (8153m). Beyond the ridge the valley widens as the trail passes through Pangka at 4390m then descends to the river bank before beginning of climb on to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa Glacier.It's a steep climb up the moraine, switchbacking alongside the stream to the first small lake at 4650m, where a family of green Braminy ducks resides. The trail now becomes almost level at 4690m and finally Gokyo at 4750m. in Gokyo . O/N Guest at House B.L.D.
Day 10 GOKYO - Gokyo Ri - Gokyo rest day After breakfast, trek around Gokyo Ri, the views in the Gokyo region are tremendous. For the best view, climb to Gokyo Ri, the small peak above the lake. This peaks of 5318m, it's a 2 hours climb to the top of the peak, providing a panoramic view of Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse and Twachee. Those with more time and engery can make a trip up the valley to another lake marked with the name Ngozumpa on the maps or even beyond to a fifth lake. There're several small peaks in this region that offer vantage points for the surrounding peaks. in Gokyo. O/N Guest at House B.L.D.
Day 11 Gokyo - Thankgnan After breakfast this short trek supports the same way and crossing the Ngojumba glacier and trek continues to chola Base camp (4920m)where we will reach Thagna of few teahouses for at Thangnan. O/N Guest at House B.L.D.
Day 12 Thankgnan - Dzonglha Day follows with continue walking across the moraine, the trail makes a steep ascent to the top of the snow covered Chola Pass (5,420 meters). Walking takes approximately 3 to 4 hours to reach the top. From the top, you can enjoy excellent panoramic views of the surrounding mountains of Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Mt. Everest. From the pass, the trail descends steeply towards the Dzonglha (4,850 m) passing through pine forests. It takes about 7 hours to walk. . O/N Guest at House B.L.D.
Day 13 Dzanglha to Lobuche From Dzonglha, the trail levels and then makes a gradual climb up and down to the small Sherpa settlement of Lobuche (4,930). This is a small village situated nearby the stream. The sunset on Nuptse is a memorable sight. . O/N Guest at House B.L.D.
Day 14 Lubuche-Gorak Shep: 2-4 hours The trail continues climb to Gorak Shep. It takes a couple of hours to walk up to the famous viewing point of Kala Pattar (Black Rock) at 5,545m this small peak offers the best views of Mt. Everest, Pumori and Ama Dablam you can get without climbing. Overnight in Gorak Shep (5,160m). . O/N Guest at House B.L.D.
Day 15 Gorak Shep-Everest Base Camp- Lubuche: 6-7 hours This day leads you finally to the Everest Base Camp (5,357m) walking through rocky and glacial trails where climbers gather for summiting Everest. Continuing the trek we'll return to Lobuje (4930m/12894ft) for overnight. . O/N Guest at House B.L.D.
Day 16 Lobuche to Pangboche From Lobuche we retrace our route for an hour and continue descending to the small collection of buildings at Dugla (4600m). We continue down the broad valley to Pheriche (4240m). This sprawling village is home to the Himalayan Rescue Association and there is a small medical post here staffed by western volunteers. We cross the Dudh Kosi by a small wooden bridge and continue on a delightful path high above the river to the village of Pangboche. There are superb views of Ama Dablam (6856m) from all along the trail, offering diverse viewpoint on this famous peak. Pangboche is a large Sherpa community with a large Gompa situated high above the village. It is here that they used to claim to have a yeti skull, but this questionable artifact was recently stolen. . O/N Guest at House B.L.D.
Day 17 Pangboche to Namche Bazzar Our final day in the high mountains takes us back to Namche Bazaar. Although we are leaving the Khumbu now, this is one of the best days walking on the entire trek. The path initially descends to the river below Pangboche and crosses via a rickety suspension bridge spanning a narrow chasm. We then climb up through pretty forest to the famous Gompa at Tengboche. Here we can gaze back north at the fantastic panorama which includes Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam, whilst to the east we can see Kang Tega and Thamserku. We will also be able to visit the Gompa which has been recently built since the old one was shattered by fire in 1989. We then begin the long descent down a seemingly endless series of switch-backs to the Dudh Kosi at Phunki Tenga. We stop here for lunch in a very pleasant and sunny location. Finally we begin our last big hill which climbs up to the lodges at Sanasa. From here the path contours around the hillside in a superb high-level position until we reach Namche and our comfortable lodge. . O/N Guest at House B.L.D.
Day 18 Namche Bazaar- Phakding: 4-5 hours today the trail steeply descends to the Hillary Suspension Bridge and then continues on an easy natural trail. Overnight in Phakding (2,652m). . O/N Guest at House B.L.D.
Day 19 Phakding-Lukla: 3-4 hours And finally today the trail will lead you back to Lukla (2,800m). On arrival in Lukla you will have a time to relax. O/N Guest at House B.L.D.
Day 20 Lukla- Kathmandu: 35 minutes. After an early morning flight to Kathmandu, you'll transfer to your hotel. Finally there'll be an evening celebration dinner together. . O/N Guest at House B.L.D.
Day 21 Departure: You could catch up on some last minute shopping, before departure to Airport or onwards to your next purpose. . O/N Guest at House B.L.D.
